První kniha ságy Siege of Terra otevírá závěrečné dějství Horovy hereze ve velkém stylu. John French precizně popisuje obrovské vesmírné střety, kdy Horovo zrádné loďstvo doráží k Solární soustavě a obránci Impéria se zoufale snaží udržet bránu k Zemi. Příběh je epický, přehledně napsaný a zároveň osobní – ukazuje nejen strategii a oběti, ale i bezmoc a odvahu těch, kteří ví, že konce se možná nedožijí. Místy je tempo pomalejší, ale atmosféra osudového střetu je skvělá. Silný a důstojný začátek finální bitvy o lidstvo.
